Sitting down to write a blog post feels like getting back on a bike… and a bike I miss riding. I need to remember I won’t solve all the world’s problems in each post and I am determined to write more for myself again! I decided to create a new series to hold myself accountable: New + Now! These may not be the most ground-breaking posts, but I miss the act of sharing. I pledge to keep them short and sweet! Enjoy! xo
- Though I felt like I was cheating on my beloved lululemon, I stopped by Alo Yoga when we were in Brooklyn a few weekends ago. After years of working in retail in my late teens and early 20s, I became a very touchy-feely shopper. Let’s just say I loved what I felt as I walked around the store. I left with two new additions to my athleisure collection: this amazingly soft top with a cool back (I wear it with leggings + a sports bra) and these leggings in white (I’m willing spring!). I have laundered them the same way I do my other athletic wear — washed in cold + hung to dry — with good success. I have been impressed with the quality and the wearability. I’m not a full convert, but I’m trying to diversify 😉
- We brought these $13 jot pads on our train trip down to NYC in December. They are now staples in our bag of goodies when we go out to eat or generally need a little sanity. (I also think they make great birthday gifts for the 4 to 6 year old set. Sorry if I’m blowing the surprise to any of my friends!) They offer multiple sizes, but this one is about the size of an iPhone and has a certain appeal because of it. I have them in my purse at all times!
- It could be the fact I’m over winter, but I am channeling warmer days and thinking of what I might wear to Newport Folk Fest this year. This dress may be a contender this year. It checks a lot of my boxes (covers my shoulders to protect from the blazing sun, wouldn’t be see-through if it rains, etc.), so we’ll see if it makes the cut in July!
- Five years into living in our house, I finally admitted defeat with a few of our cabinets and sought out a solution at (where else?) The Container Store! These mesh drawers are available in a number of sizes (importantly cabinet depth!) and were almost painless to install. The weird cabinet below our range is no longer a wasteland for odd shaped baby gear and kitchen items. I call that a win! I may even add a few drawers in our bathrooms as well!
